Guillotine Shears |

The guillotine system is by far the most preferred method used by precision manufacturers
of shears. This system provides the most accurate cutting action due to the fact
that the blade comes straight down to shear the workpiece. The travel of the upper
blade from the top of the travel to the bottom is in a straight line through the entire
cut and the angle between the two blades never changes. Virtually all of the quality
U.S. made shears manufactured in this century have been of the guillotine design. The
guillotine system uses ram slides (gibbs) which guide the upper beam and solidly contain
the shearing forces. The ram is completely contained in the slides throughout
the entire ram travel. |
