Do this test yourself
Take a simple 12ft long W18x35 beam, and manually lay out 5 x 13/16" diameter holes at each
end of the beam - total of 10 holes.
Most fabricators will tell you that they estimate between 4-5 minutes per hole for manual
layout and drilling. So this beam is a 40-50 minute beam - but lets be generous and say it only
takes you 30 minutes to fabricate the beam.
